Chick-fil-A has selected its California restaurants to test a new Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The chain intends to add this item to its menu nationally.
The chain has been testing a Spicy Chicken Sandwich in Baltimore, Maryland, and Jacksonville, Florida, and now is expanding the test to include the 32 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the state, including Los Angeles and Orange Counties, San Diego, the Inland Empire, Bakersfield, Oxnard and the Fresno and Sacramento areas.
A spicy variation of its signature hand-breaded Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, the Spicy Sandwich is seasoned with a blend of peppers, pressure-cooked in refined peanut oil and served on a toasted buttered bun with two pickle chips.
Woody Faulk, Chick-fil-A's vice president of brand development, said: "California promises to be an important proving ground for our new spicy offering, based on the diversity of its customer base, as well as the desire among many Californians for spicier foods."
Chick-fil-A is a privately held restaurant chain and the second largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the US, based on annual sales. It offers chicken entrees, sandwiches, and salads, along with waffle fries and lemonade.
